Das hat nun wohl wirklich niemand erwartet: Das neue NIN-Album “Ghosts I-IV” ist als Torrent verfügbar und zwar ganz legal unter einer Creative Commons-Lizenz. Das ist wirklich sehr cool. Genauer gesagt ist nur der erste Teil der 36 Tracks starken Collection als Torrent freigegeben. Den restlichen Teil kann man auf der offiziellen NIN-Website für 5$ kaufen. Beim momentanen Dollar-Kurs .. Oh momma! :)

In den release notes schreibt die Band:

“Now that we’re no longer constrained by a record label, we’ve decided to personally upload Ghosts I, the first of the four volumes, to various torrent sites, because we believe BitTorrent is a revolutionary digital distribution method, and we believe in finding ways to utilize new technologies instead of fighting them.”

Endlich mal jemand, der’s geschnallt hat. Ich hoffe einmal, dass das ein Erfolg wird. Erstens bin ich ein grosser NIN-Fan, zweitens glaube ich wirklich, dass die Zeit der grossen Majors und der CD als Distributionsmedium langsam aber sicher abgelaufen ist. Trent Reznor hat bereits vor geraumer Zeit einmal ein paar Tracks als Remixpacks veröffentlicht, irgendwie ist mir das einfach sympathisch. =D

Ich werde mir jedenfalls gleich die ganze Collection kaufen.

PS. Andererseits haben bereits Radiohead bewiesen, dass man nicht alles mitmachen muss, was die “Grossen” wollen..
