another one on ie and png files
okay .. forget about PNG’s and IE. honestly, just don’t do it. it’s the easiest way. try to avoid it whenever you possibly can. if you really need transparent PNG for your website layout, make a workaround css file, check for the browser with php and load the file with url()-links to PNG8 (only 1bit alpha) or GIF files. mention on your site that people should get a real browser to enjoy the full quality of your site. make a special entry page for ie users telling them to download firefox. there’s no way around that!
it’s just amazing. microsoft didn’t manage to implement full png support since 7 (!!) years. they announced it as feature for IE 4.0 already. really, it’s a pain in the ass. go get firefox NOW if you dare visiting this site with internet explorer. it’s the devil. not only lack of png support. but also baby easy css like a div-tag with height attribute is rendered incorrectly. the main purpose of this browser must be windows update and backdoors to install spyware. can’t think of any serious use … rant rant rant
i really really wonder if they implement full support in version 7.0. and even if they would do it, it takes years until every bloody user switched to windows vista. actually, it’s probably easier to have flash support nowadays than png support. pooor!
