mondays ..

argh

hmm .. i’d really love to have a pantone color survival kit. all guides in a stylish leather box. just need a glass of single malt whiskey and a cigar while browsing my colors .. and an office chair which doesn’t lose screws every now and then. hmm.

good lord, i’m happy i finished this business report for one of our clients. they cut it down from more than 50 pages on 8. kinda looks like the boyscout newsletter from the countryside now. i dunno .. what’s the matter of haveing a fullfeatured corporate design when people just don’t get the meaning of it? - they spent about 10’000 swiss francs on defining rules and they want to break the rules themselves. it’s a pity. there would be so much potential around to create great things for this specific client but there are just too many people talking about wether it’s good or not. that’s a reason for me to lose a good ammount of motivation. one example: a lot of meetings were necessary to define the company’s font. after we defined something together, the it-departement of this very company wasn’t able to deploy an opentype font on a little less than 40 workstations. what a waste of time we did here. so we decided that only publications that hit the shelf via preprint get the full corporate design aspects (i didn’t like this idea - ever). and now .. they really want arial as font for their business report. hell! wtf is the point here? they’re arguing like “with your font, some numbers in the report aren’t really on a 100th of a millimeter exactly placed above eachother”. ok, that’s a point, but we can fix that or we just use a font with a non variable spacing like courier or something and use the company font for everthing else. but no.

thanks, god of all the vectors, these aren’t my only projects at the moment. lots of branding and experimenting is going on too. so i won’t shoot myself - at least until the next company report is due. :)

nah, i won’t shoot myself coz of a client’s unability to understand the basics of corporate identity and corporate design philosophia. and as far as i can tell, we’re going to switch the client segment and do the next step, from a small media and various other things-company to a full featured media company with a national client base. so much about that. if it will work out .. that’s a different question. but if you don’t try, you won’t know. ‘aaaight?? - ‘aaaight!
